Are ALL of these benefits really packed into this tiny fruit?? YES!

Though a cranberry is small in size, its health benefits tip the scales out of proportion! Cranberries are loaded with beneficial nutrients and special disease blocking properties which inhibit certain bacteria.  Research studies are abound touting these berry benefits.  In addition to their ability to prevent undesirable bacteria from sticking to vital organs and cells, the Cranberry also contains valuable plant nutrients, the primary one which is flavonoids, a potent antioxidant.

Urinary Tract Infection:  Cranberries are well known for their role in preventing UTIs or “bladder infections.  Until recently, this had been attributed to the acidic quantity of cranberry juice. New research published in a letter in the Journal of the American Medical Association suggests that cranberries may have even greater bacteria-fighting properties than previously thought. This new research supports a potentially broader range of benefits for fighting bacteria, such as Staphylococcus, salmonella as well as E. coli.

Ulcer Prevention:  New studies suggest that cranberries keep some strains of ulcer-causing bacteria from sticking to the stomach cells, which is the first step in the formation of certain ulcers.

Gum Disease:  Researchers are exploring the gum disease fighting benefits of cranberries, and early results are encouraging. A study done by the Tel Aviv University determined that the same bacteria-blocking mechanism that prevents UTIs appears to keep certain bacteria from gathering on the surface of the tooth, which could reduce the formation of harmful plaque that leads to gum disease.

Heart Disease:   Antioxidant’s help contribute to a healthy heart by reducing LDL, the ‘bad’ cholesterol. Cranberries are full of antioxidants and flavonoids. By eatting cranberries, you are helping to keep your heart pumping strong. A study done by the University of Wisconsin found that as little as one-fourth of an ounce could have a significant benefit.

Cancer Fighting Properties: A study by the University of Western Ontario was the first to document that regular consumption of cranberry products may inhibit the development of breast cancer in animals. While the results are preliminary, this study suggests the cancer fighting properties of cranberries.

Research indicates that approximately 10 ounces of cranberry juice cocktail is needed daily to achieve the bacteria blocking benefits that ward off UTIs, ulcers and gum disease. You can get these benefits in an array of cranberry products. For round-the-clock protection, snack or cook with one of these products at least once a day.

And of course, cranberries are just naturally good for you - they provide 10% of the daily allowance of Vitamin C, are low in sodium, and are a good source of Vitamins A and B, calcium, phosphorus and iron.
